“Respite” is a film that follows Rose, an elderly lady, and her experience of isolation in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Frustrated with solitude, her body takes over one morning as she cannot help but explode into a passionate dance sequence. Rose’s brief moment of release provides a temporary relief, only to return her to the monotonous reality of life in lockdown.

Rose is a 60/70 year old retired English teacher. She lives alone in her modest house in the outskirts of Bristol. Rose yearns for the joy of normal life, filled with friends and family, as much as she might not show it, she is lonely. Having lived alone for years, Rose possesses a stoic resilience but the severity of the pandemic is weighing on her. Dancing experience is preferred but non-essential, energy and confidence is a must!
